We are expanding our scientific staff to support additional research and development, partially related to a Department of Energy grant. Working in a project team environment, these positions will collaborate in the research and development of microbial strains for the manufacture of renewable energy and other green chemistry products. Successful candidates must be independent, self motivated, organized, and capable of self-directed operation.
Associate Director/Director Bioprocess Development
This position provides leadership and operational management to fermentation and microbial process development project team efforts. Initiates, designs and executes fermentation processes and projects, both through team leadership and independently in the lab, to maximize understanding of cellular physiology and to improve manufacturing output. In collaboration with team members, develops process technologies with a focus on contamination control, culture productivity, medium development, technology transfer and process scale-up to a manufacturing setting. Contributes fermentation expertise across the process development function including design and execution of laboratory scale experiments, scale up and technology transfer through pilot and demonstration plant scale. Provides work direction and mentorship to less experienced staff members in support of corporate goals. Requires an advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years bioprocess development experience (or an equivalent combination) related to microbial fermentation, at the shake flask and at various bioreactor scales. Successful experience in leading and collaborating with technical teams involved in fermentation, process development and scale up activities from laboratory to pilot scale biochemical manufacturing.
Scientist, Strain Development
Requires a PhD in biochemical engineering, molecular biology or related field; a Masters plus 3+ years experience; or equivalent combination. Advanced skills in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, protein purification, homologous recombination, and chromosomal engineering in various microorganisms are required. A comprehensive understanding and previous laboratory exposure to molecular biology and microbiology are essential. In particular this position requires understanding and efficient implementation of metabolic pathway construction.
Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, Analytical Chemistry
We are seeking a team oriented, self motivated individual for the position of Research Associate or Sr. Res. Assoc., Analytical Chemistry. Responsibilities include analytical method development, analysis procedures using HPLC/UPLC and GC instrumentation, data collection, analysis and reporting using Empower software, wet chemistry methods for quantitative analysis and analytical quality assurance. Experience with more advanced analytical chemistry techniques such as method development needed. Requires understanding and efficient implementation of analytical procedures using HPLC/UPLC and Empower software.
